The Guest List
Thursday July 24th, 2025 with Joe Reilly
Interviews with Matty Morris of The Lazys (at the 27 Club tonight) and Rachel Weldon of Debaser about a new Pique Sustainability Fund
We open the show today in conversation with Matty Morris, who plays guitar with the Australian group The Lazys. They are performing at the 27 Club tonight (Thursday, July 24.) We talk about their "pub rock" sound that lands somewhere between AC DC and Billy Talent. The Lazys have been in the studio with Billy Talent's guitarist Ian D'Sa and he produced their album Tropical Hazards. Matty discusses the song Somebody's Daughter which is about missing and murdered women and what to expect when the band performs live tonight.

Then we check in with Rachel Weldon, the founder and Director of Debaser - an Ottawa-based arts performance organization that brings truly alternative music artists to town and produces the quarterly day-long arts celebration/showcase known as Pique. Rachel tells us about the new Pique Sustainability Fund and how you can support her group in its efforts to ensure that the Pique festival is accessible to everyone and anyone through their "pay what you can" ticketing program. We also play music by two artists who have appeared as part of Pique in 2025, and who appeared on The Guest List earlier this year.
