The Guest List
Thursday July 3rd, 2025 with Joe Reilly
Interviews with Sue Foley and JW-Jones about recent recordings and their upcoming performances at Ottawa Bluesfest.

Today we focus on a pair of outstanding local musicians who are performing at Ottawa Bluesfest, which kicks off next Thursday, July 10 and runs until July 20. First up we check in with the very busy Sue Foley. The blues guitarist and singer continues to make waves throughout the blues world releasing stellar albums and winning accolades and awards. Just last week the state of Massachusetts declared June 27 as Sue Foley Day across the state. We talk to Sue about this and about how she tries to stay in shape when on the road. We also talk about the decision to release her celebrated solo, acoustic album One Guitar Woman. When Sue plays at Ottawa Bluesfest you get a chance to hear both sides of her blues stylings on Saturday, July 12th. At 7 p.m. she will deliver an electric set on the LeBreton Stage and later at 9:30 she will delve into the music of One Guitar Woman in an acoustic set in the Barney Danson Theatre. A great opportunity to hear this talented musician presenting two very different takes on her music. JW is performing on Saturday, July 19th at 7:45 on the River Stage. We talk to JW about his prolific nature for recording albums - as he released his 12th recording in 2023 entitled Everything Now. We talk to JW about the very personal nature of the songs on this album and about what it was like recording with some blues greats. He has a fantastic story to tell about how Jimmy Vaughan ended up as part of the record.
