We talk to Kalle Mattson of summersets and to Genevieve Racette about their upcoming concerts at Bluesfest

Today we continue our discussions with artists appearing at Ottawa Bluesfest this year. We open with Kalle Mattson of the group summersets. Kalle tells us about the group he formed with his friend Andrew Sowka and how they created an album that tells one in-depth story of two characters and their live long love story. The process started with one of my favourite songs Never Love Another, and Kalle tells us how that song came about and how the album Smalltown Story grew and grew and grew. He also tells us what to expect when summersets performs at Bluesfest on Friday, July 12th. Kalle also gives us his suggestion for an artist to check out this coming weekend at the Festival and he picked country music artist Tyler Childers (who actually sounds like a COUNTRY artist) who is on the RBC Stage on Friday at 9:30. She is opening one of the best nights on that stage as fanclubwallet and Ben Howard appear later in the day on Sunday on the River Stage. (You know where I'll be hanging out on Sunday evening!!!) We talk to Genevieve about the very personal song she released earlier this year, Same Old Me and how her willingness to explore her insecurities in song helps others to know that they are not alone when they have these feelings. We also talk about the various pressures that girls and women feel that lend themselves to these kinds of feelings. Genevieve talks about the importance of trying to build a team to support her that is predominantly made up of women. This is a fantastic conversation with an artist you should keep your eye on!
