Interviews with Mimi O'Bonsawin, Ian Ferguson of Class of 91 and Charlie A'Court

We open in conversation with Mimi O'Bonsawin who will be appearing at the Fourth Stage of the National Arts Centre on Thursday, April 18th. Mimi shares about the women who have influenced her along the way and to whom she is paying tribute in her song Here's to The Women. We also talk about her connection to the land and how she will be playing as a trio at the National Arts Centre. She also tells us about the special mentoring program she is working with at the NAC. For tickets to see Mimi O'Bonsawin at the NAC: https://nac-cna.ca/en/event/35480 For more information about Mimi and her music: https://www.mimi.ca/ https://mimiobonsawin.bandcamp.com/ Next up we talk to Ian Ferguson, the lead vocalist and guitarist with the Ottawa band Class of 91. Ian tells us about the group's new singles (which we feature on the show) and how the band's gritty yet melodic rock sounds have some things in common with the work of Bob Mould (Sugar, Husker Du.) We also talk about his guitar playing and what to expect when Class of 91 performs this Saturday (April 13) at the Dominion Tavern. Charlie will be appearing at the Ottawa Grassroots Festival on Friday, April 26th at the First Unitarian Congregation. We talk to Charlie about the history behind his song Dancing at the Dirty O, and some of his own history getting into the blues and soul music at a young age. Charlie tells us how his solo performances work and what to expect for his Ottawa Grassroots Festival appearance.
