Interviews with Raphaelle Standell-Preston of Braids and Rachel Weldon of Debaser

We open the show with an eight-minute stream of consciousness piece from the Montreal-based group Braids. Lead vocalist, Raphaelle Standell-Preston tells us how this song came into being and about her vocal stylings on the new album by Braids. We also talk about the addition of real strings on this recording and how the band is integrating a string section into the live shows, including at Club SAW here in Ottawa tonight (Thursday, June 1st.) Debaser is in the final preparations for another edition of Pique, coming up on Saturday, June 10th. Once again, Debaser will take over every available space in the Arts Court building (and some of the surrounding outdoor spaces as well) and bring it to life with a myriad of arts presentations, including several amazing concerts. Rachel tells us how Debaser got started 10 years ago and how the organization has grown into an integral part of the Ottawa music community.
