Interviews with Don Brownrigg and Quote the Raven : NOTE mistake about Don Brownrigg's concert - DON IS PLAYING AT THE NATIONAL ARTS CENTRE ON THURSDAY, APRIL 18th

Please note that I mistakenly said several times on the show that Don Brownrigg was playing at Live on Elgin on April 12. (I had the wrong webpage up in my browser when I was talking to him.) Don Brownrigg in fact playing at the National Arts Centre on Thursday, April 18th. It's the all Newfoundland show today with yours truly as the host from Gander and two musical guests from the Rock! We start the show off today with Don Brownrigg who is playing at the NAC on April 18th. You may note that Don is a bit confused when I ask him how it was playing in Perth last night (since he had played in St. John's) and this happened because I was looking at Quote the Raven's tour schedule in my browser and failed to notice that! Apologies to Don and to anyone that this caused confusion for! We had a great conversation with Don that touched on things like the role of fate in Don's songs and working with amazing producer Daniel Ledwell. We also talked about some of the great musicians he worked with on this album and when you sing "baby" in a song are you referring to a lover or to an infant! https://www.donbrownrigg.ca/ https://nac-cna.ca/en/event/20232 Then I played a song by Mongolian group The HU. They are not coming to town (yet) but I sure hope they do someday. This song was introduced to me this week and it has stuck in my head. Love the overtone throat singing and the instrumentation and the heavy groove of this one so had to share it. Check out the amazing video - try to watch the one with the subtitles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jM8dCGIm6yc Next up we talk to Jordan Coaker and Kirsten Rodden-Clarke. The duo hails from Conception Bay South in Newfoundland and make music under the name Quote the Raven. We talk about taking their name from a famous Edgar Allan Poe poem and how the duo met in choir and started making music together. We also talk about the piano sound they created on the song Anywhere With You (it's not a toy piano like I thought) and about co-writing a number of songs on the new album with other Canadian singer-songwriters. At the end of the piece we were going to listen to a song they co-wrote with Gabrielle Papillon but we had a short power outage that took down our broadcast and when we came back we could not access the internet to stream the song and we had to go back to Don Brownrigg's CD Fireworks. http://www.quotetheravenofficial.com/ https://www.liveonelgin.com/ So great interviews today but a couple of glitches and apologies to Don for giving the wrong concert info and to Kirsten and Jordan for not getting their second song on the air. Get out and see some live music this week and be sure to buy music made by artists you like. Artists need to make money to keep making great music for us all and they don't get paid enough by streaming services. Go visit a record store on Saturday, April 13... it's Record Store Day!!
