An interview with Zach Houle about his electronic musical project Sievi

It's a slow period for concerts in Ottawa right now, so we had time to stretch out with an extensive talk with Zach Houle about his musical project Sievi and his excellent album Rebirth - one of my favourite releases in 2018. Zach is based in Calgary. We talk about his creative process and how it is important for him that his electronic music has an organic feel to it. We also talk about how many most of the music on Rebirth has a bright and uplifting feeling, with the exception of the piece Violet - and Zach explains where that comes from. He talks about how he performs this music live and lets us know that he hopes to bring Sievi to Ottawa sometime in May with a series of concerts in Ontario and Quebec. If he makes it to Ottawa we'll have him back to talk more about performing live in Ottawa and other eastern cities in May or June. If he makes it to town we'll have him back to talk some more about his live performances.
