Interviews with Amos the Transparent and Jane Siberry and music from Reuben Hollebon

Today we talk to Jon Chandler of Amos the Transparent. The group is playing at the Black Sheep Inn on Friday night, December 23. Jon shares with us some thoughts on the process of creating an album that has a narrative thread throughout the album (the group's 2014 release This Cold Escape) and we make some comparisons to the Decemberists album The Hazards of Love. Actually Jane Siberry released 2 of my favourite albums of the year. Back in February she came to town to perform at the Gladstone and she had a lovely new album titled Ulysses Purse. Then in November she released a new album titled Angels Bend Closer which includes some of the songs on Ulysses' Purse in different arrangements. In the interview Jane talks briefly about the arc of the songs on Ulysses' Purse and where they come from. It's a dark, brooding affair with opaque lyrics and layered sonic arrangements. A superb recording.
