Interviews with Not Really, Duotang and Diana

On the show today we talk to Dan Tennant of the local band Not Really. The group has just released a new album Buy The Lie (you can check it out here on Bandcamp -- https://sleepinggoats.bandcamp.com/album/buy-the-lie -- and will be playing at the Rainbow tomorrow (Friday, Dec. 2.) We talk to Dan about the social themes that he addresses in his songs and about the influence of straight ahead rockers like the Replacements on the sound of his gritty, group. We also talk about what a solid producer like Dave Draves brings to the process of making a great recording. https://sleepinggoats.bandcamp.com/ Next up I mess up by introducing Diana when Duotang was calling in... ooops. Sorry about that and hope you didn't hear too much when I left my mic on while setting up the interview with Rod Slaughter the bassist with Duotang. The band - a solid bass and drums duo... but not an electronic bass'n'drums group! - is back after a 15 year hiatus and Rod talks about how he got back together with Sean Allum and recorded this brand new Duotang album. The group is in town next Wednesday, December 7 at the House of Targ. http://www.spectrasonic.com/event/1341637-duotang-ottawa/ http://www.duotangband.com/ Finally we check in with Carmen Elle, who is the principal vocalist with Diana. The group has just released its second album and Carmen talks about ignoring the challenges of creating a sophomore album and ignoring pressure that comes with success. She also talks about the recording and mixing process and how the group made a concerted effort to ensure that the vocals were more up front on this recording. Carmen let us know that the group has grown to a 7 piece live act and you can expect a BIG sound from Diana when the group performs at the House of Targ next Friday, December 9. http://www.spectrasonic.com/event/1307715-diana-ottawa/ Get out and see some live music this week!
