Thursday June 11th, 2015 with Joe Reilly
Interviews with Grounders, The Young Novelists, and Mono

Some great music coming to town in the next few days and on today's show we talk to the people making that music and listen to their musical output. Grounders has released its debut album (self titled)with a mix of bright pop-rock and some darker Krautrock tunes thrown in for good measure. We talk to Mike Searle who plays bass with the band about the music and the show on Friday, June 12 at Cafe Dekuf. http://groundersmusic.com/ The Young Novelists hail from Toronto and make great rock music with folky influences - think Wilco meets the Head and the Heart. The band has released a second album titled Made Us Strangers and will perform at the Black Sheep Inn on Friday, June 12 as well. We talk to Graydon James about writing songs and novels and about his wife's awesome vocals on two tracks on the album. Then we listen to one of the most beautiful songs on the album that Laura Spink breathes lovely sentiments into! http://www.theyoungnovelists.com/ Finally we talk to Takaakira Goto, guitarist with amazing Japanese instrumental band Mono. The sound quality on the cell phone isn't terrific but it was great to hear him discuss the importance of Beethoven to him and how he transports on stage and writes new music on the road. You can see this amazing group on Monday, June 15 at Ritual here in Ottawa. A show not to be missed!! http://www.monoofjapan.com/en/new-albums/ Get out and see some live music this week!
