FUNDING DRIVE!!! Pleading and begging to the accompaniment of the best music in the world!

With the days getting darker, both literally and figuratively, now is the time to stand up and be counted! Stand up for truly independent media which celebrates community and inclusion. Stand up for my program which has championed multiculturalism, diversity, and our shared humanity as demonstrated through music! Stand up for joy! CKCU turns 50 this November, and I have been part of it for 31 years and my appreciation and knowledge of music has just continued to grow, as has my desire to share it with you.
I attended the free, outdoor 10th anniversary celebration of the Black Walnut Bakery in Cumberland on Saturday (https://blackwalnutbakery.ca/) and they went all out and invited the Lemon Bucket Orkestra to perform, and they did! They played almost all my Balkan and Roma favourites!

A farewell to one of Jazz's greatest musicians, Jack DeJohnette, who died on Oct 26th, 83 years old, after an incredible 60 year career. We hear from his only appearance with Anouar Brahem, on "Blue Maqam" from 2017. DeJohnette first met and performed with Keith Jarrett after he moved to New York City in 1966. In 1983, he formed the Standards Trio with Keith Jarrett and Gary Peacock, this was an extremely rewarding and long-lasting collaboration, recording over 20 albums and performing for over 30 years until disbanding in 2014. We will hear from the first recording session in 1983 as well as the final one in 2013.
