| The trio with vocalist Arooj Aftab, pianist Vijay Iyer, and multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily performed last night at the Ottawa Jazz Festival, sadly I was not able to attend, but I have been listening to their new album a lot this past week. It is really superb, minimalist and subtle improvisation. It is mostly instrumental with snippets of Urdu poetry sung which are more impactful with their sparse appearances. |
