Brand new Keith Jarrett, the Bordeaux Concert. For Women, Life, Freedom in Iran.

A new release by Keith Jarrett is always a cause for celebration! Since Jarrett was forced to end his illustrious performing career due to health issues, new releases become even more precious. Keith Jarrett's final tour comprised of five solo European dates in July 2016. Two of these concerts have already been released, Budapest and Munich, and now Bordeaux is the third release from his last tour. I suspect and certainly hope that ECM has other concert recordings in its vault, both older and more recent, to draw from for future releases. I also hope we will see new music from Keith Jarrett the composer. The Bordeaux concert, recorded live on July 6th, 2016, features 13 completely improvised pieces, most of them exquisitely introspective. But before we hear the Bordeaux concert, we will start with what has become the protest anthem for Iranians in and outside Iran. A short but urgent song by the young singer Shervin Hajipour, "Baraye". It's a song that has captured the sadness and pain of Iranians and their burning desire for freedom.
