Afro-Cuban All Stars - Absolutely Live II - DM Ahora!
Not only a favourite release, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt's concert in May where he played a 70 minute performance of this Raga with Shashank Subramanyam was one of the best I've seen in 2017.

Of course I need to throw out a whole bunch of caveats: My selections are only from releases I had the pleasure of listening to. I am positive there are hundreds of recordings which should be on my list, unfortunately I haven't heard them. And I will meet some of them in 2018 and beyond. And of course, we won't hear everything on this list today! e.g. I have not had the chance to program Morton Feldman's completely otherworldly and enchanting 72 minute long piano opus "For Bunita Marcus" yet, it will have to wait for a future show in 2018.
