Another thought CKCU -- at least its music segments -- is the closest "cousin across time" of Radio 3 and, way before that, of CHEZ and CHOM's free-form music programs of the seventies. My most enjoyable music source.

Re the Polaris, I've just had a look at the list on the wiki. It struck me that in that whole Polaris thing, much more important than the actual, one, winner, is the entire short list. One winner inevitably erases the 9 "losers", but a good look at the 10 gives a good impression of popular, Canadian+, indie-type, forward-looking pop music.

It's always struck me as a bit odd to be so focused on choosing a single 'best' for so many pursuits. If it were up to me they'd simply present a group of the year's best, all together. However many deserve it, whether it's 1 or 10.
