Hello, good morning how is everybody this morning?

Morning, Jeremy!

Hiya. A lot of the music goes well with curling, which I've got on t.v., muted. Thrash metal might not.

Ryan Bresee (host)
Ha! It will get a little heavier later, but not too much.

Ryan, good morning. I've never tuned into your show before. Now I'm glad that FM 88.5 and 98.5 were playing far too many commercials in a row. As I grabbed my hair in one hand, to rip out a small clump in advertising frustration, I also grabbed my remote with the other hand and changed the station. That's how I stumbled into your show, much as I did with Steve Kirkland (Saturday 6-8 pm) and Candy (4-5 pm Fridays). Great music. It's easy to see that you've really searched for your track choices. I've Shazammed almost every song you've played for the last half hour, and will shamelessly steal your ideas to create a new USB chip for my own listening. Well done Ryan. Hear you next week. Tom.

Tom, there are also a many other tasty shows on CKCU -- I'll give times, but the on-demand feature* allows you to play the show whenever. For instance, Dylan Hunter's show, 1-3 p.m. Fridays; Renny's Riot, 1:30-3:30 Wednesdays; I Doug That, a 1 hour show, Thursdays at 1 p.m. And Volume, Contrast, Brilliance, Saturdays 6-8 p.m. SO MUCH GOOD MUSIC! * Choose a show, choose a playlist, and the second row of CAP PROMPS contains a LISTEN NOW; click and it pops up a window, on which you click. Simple.

So I went and bought a ticket for Close Talker (and Postdata). It's all your fault, Ryan.

Yes, Gilgamesh's song may have *contrasted* with the curling...

Tom, I see I recommended a show you've already listened to... (Sat, 6)

Benoit, thanks for the tips. I'll give them all a try. I know Steve's show on Saturday, but the others are new to me. It's funny, but when I discover a whole whack of good new music, I feel like I'm the genius ! Nobody panic. I'm a tad more realistic than that. Thanks again, Tom.

Great playlist as always , Ryan. I saw Tanya Tagaq live a few years ago. It was ...an experience! Not for the faint of heart but really cool.

Tom Kay: WELCOME to THE BEST in community radio. You will find many gems, and of course some warts, of a volunteer-powered community-oriented experience. Happy game of "spin the OnDemand" to nose around. And may ye never go back to the commercial drek. May your hair grow back as a result.

Welcome to the posse Tom!!!! Yes you must check out all the shows. Each is amazing in it's own right. The work all the volunteers put into their shows is endless and the knowledge they share of the music is simply priceless!!!!

You guys are making me feel right welcomed and squishy. Full disclosure, I've been a CKCU fan for decades, even though I've never happened upon this show. OK, maybe I'm not a proper card-carrying fan, if I didn't know about "Whatever's Cool with Me." I recall Tony Day's electronic show from eons ago, so see, I really meant it. I've been here before. And any lurkers here have my full permission to feel sorry for me, as my wonderful wife still likes the commercial stations. I like Red Hot Chili Peppers too, just not for every song or meal. CKCU offers both the worst (I'll patch up that thought in a second) and the absolute best music that an FM listener can hope for in Ottawa. Now, when I say the worst, there are 8 billion people on earth, and the other 7.999 billion might disagree with my assessment that any music on this station is the worst. And that would be perfectly fair. That's the strength of volunteer radio. I wouldn't change any of it, even what I think of as the "worst." Yes, I will start lurking, in other shows, a little harder. I don't want to haul away any listeners, but I also really enjoy KEXP Seattle on Youtube. Brilliant and relevant variety. That's my attempt at being well-rounded. Cheers all, Tom.
