So, with the Polaris Prize, it seems to me the winner is always the least likely to be, or to have been, known (let alone, god forbid, to have had any commercial success), as long as he, she, it is very 'now' in left of centre current opinion. I stand to be corrected on this impression. And good morning!

Pronunciation tip for Fils-Aimé: (in English) Feess Aimé. The l is completely silent, and the s is soft. Very old word, pronounced so differently from "fille" (feeye).

After all, it's tough to be "most artistic" when you're already known and loved, have sold a lot, etc.; also, it's completely unsurprising that the musicians & cognoscenti on the jury would be left-of-centre, and therefore choose one of the current best representatives of a 'now' politico-cultural sensibility zone, as seen through such optics. In sum, it's more than "merely" most artistic merits.

Been reading the lyrics for Jason Aldean's song, "Try that in a small Town"...in the news as violent & racist...banned by some.... Ya gotta stretch it pretty far to figure the politics of that...but, I'm just a hillbilly.... Peace again!

Ya, I was following that as well. He knows what he is doing. He's feeding into the white, rural base and politicizing guns. Shooting his video at a location where famous lynchings were held doesn't help his case.
