Is it me, or is there a theme? I'll be taking you on the road cycling this morning. It seems to be wanting to stop raining. Maybe.

Be safe on your speeder!

9:36 AM, May 4th, 2023
B
Not the speeder, I'm strict about not using a fenderless bike when it's wet. But my mountain/winter bike's got its smooth summer tires back on, so it's the one!

Seen the flick but not a fan, for the first couple of years after the original SW, I thought the hero's name was Hans Olo.

@B Shwinn made in USA, 21 S, Bianchi 2 (Italy), Brooks Team Pro, leather saddle. Have a great ride!;-)

B
Your bike sounds great! My roadster* has a from-new Brooks Professional small (beaten copper rivets); and I'm now looking to replace, because of wear (!), its leather handlebar tape. * A tall, copper flake Raleigh International bought in '74

HA!! Bicycle nerds unite! "Raleigh International" (my first 10 speed) "Shwinn" (indestructible) "Brooks leather" (sweet yet harsh on the bum) ... Yeah, been there on all. I did my first rebuild bike at about age 12. Straight bars, longer fork, added front hand brake to the coaster / fixed gear 14" frame & wheels. Many nasty / stupid rides in the ravines of T.O. We would call it a a BMX / mountain cross these days. q;^) <-- note the helmet

I also dug Gordie, big!! He is well missed. Just one rule here ... no "Edmund Fitzgerald". Not his best by far, and heard 1000s of times to many. Let's stick the good stuff, story-telling

Don Valley. I can feel my ass crack after hitting a big bump. Yeah Don Valley. Also "Suicide Hill" as we called it from St Clair to waaaay down, and the stupid-steep-gnarly walking trails from above. Went back there to have a boo a few years ago. Surprised to be alive.

Great List, Mr. Ryan! Thanks for the show! (Hi Mom!!;-)

B
The steepest, longest and fastest hill I ever took (when reclessly younger) was down the Niagara Escarpment, in the Niagara region. I had an early electric speed gauge. I just reached 60 miles per hour. Miles! Then used the brakes like the Dickens, 90 degree curve at the bottom.,,

11:52 AM, May 4th, 2023
B
HB, there's an old trick to help soften an unsoftened leather saddle: soak it good with neat's foot oil (look it up!), and gently bang on the saddle crosswise with a strong bottle mostly filled with water (for weight). Doing it for maybe 25 minutes made my previous, board-new one get to "decent" in only maybe 25 minutes of CAREFUL distributed banging. But they sell them pre-softened now. People aren't hardass anymore... So that's just a useless fact for you to enjoy.

Yikes!

hb .. after the fact now ... Congrats?!?! It seems like you are at least as stupid as i. Dubbin + time + plus multiple saturated, coats bum-side and under, that's the ticket And most def' if there is a choice between landing in The Don, land in the bushes instead, for sure.
