A personal question, Ryan: why do you not pronounce 'Safia Nolin' à la française? You're the only one I've ever heard pronouncing it in the English way, not that that's inherently wrong -- hey, born and raised in Ottawa here! --, it just surprises me every single time.

I asked her before I interviewed her years ago about how she wanted me to pronounce her name and that's what she said. Maybe she was just trying to make it easy for an Anglo, but I rolled with it.

Safia: yeah, I'd guessed at what you explain. It's probably got more to do with the fact she's hardly played outside franco stations, and perhaps the CBC, where her name will be pronounced à la French. I would go with the French, especially given that when the song comes on, it's very likely in French. But that's me.
