Besnard Lakes always sound like themselves, at the base (bass?) anyway. Their own loping rhythm; a bit as Arcade Fire's often in that really slow, anthemic beat.

I was in high school at same time as Carole Pope's brother. Unfortunately stigmatized due to his punk-ass attitude, and the green hair. The T.O. punk seen was ON FIRE at that time .... and a bit dangerous on the dance floor. Think also, The Poles (she *literally* kicked some fans off stage), Teenage Head (loudest band ever!), Nina Hagen .... the list goes on and on.
