This symphony (didn't know, lovely) reminds me of music described as being a "tone poem". In that it meanders a lot (not a bad thing), presenting colourings of music rather than melodies.

Prev. comment was about the instrumental part, before the (equally lovely) singin'.

Benoit, Colin Stetson does a very cool interpretation of Gorecki's Symphony No. 3. Worth checking out.

Thanks! Must indeed be as interesting as, probably, unusual.

OH Ryan you always have some surprise song that I haven't heard in ages.... was lovely to hear Pink Moon, and I used to be so obsessed with Martin Tielli of the Rheostatics, and then his solo project Nick Buzz - I had loved and listened to this cover of River by Joni Mitchell (one of my fave songs) when I heard it - I think it was from mid 90's? I just did the research - so Nick Buzz was actually pianist Jon Goldsmith, violinist Hugh Marsh, guitarist Rob Piltch, and singer/songwriter Martin Tielli and yeah for the 1992 Mitchell tribute album Back to the Garden. and now Beverly Glenn-Copeland!! Great show :)

oh just to add - I guess for that recording they were credited as individuals and not with the band name Nick Buzz for some reason. I saw the band, solo Martin Tielli, and Rheostatics every time possible between 1998 and 2003, in Peterborough, Toronto, and Ottawa!

He has one of the most beautiful voices ever. I got to see him perform solo in September 2001 at the Great Canadian Theatre Company. The acoustics in there were amazing and were a perfect house for his voice. The Nick Buzz album Circo was really cool!

Nice Ryan. I must have seen the Peterborough stop on that solo tour he did at The Gordon Best theatre. I think I also saw Rheos at Barrymore's sometime before that... memoriieeees. Pretty sure I had a tape with their music, and some BOY songs! will have to dredge up the old 90s mixtapes.... :)

"There's a lot of dead talent in that song." HAH! (Just because it's true, it's no less hah-worthy.)
