We lost 2 giants in the music world the past week, first Dave Brubeck, now Ravi. Thanks to both for such huge contributions to the quality of life though music the rest of us continue to have.

We lost another great American pianist too, Charles Rosen. Also a great scholar and author on music. Aged 85. But like Shankar and Brubeck, it's hard to be sad, they lived such long lives filled with being extraordinarily successful doing the thing they loved most, playing, composing, writing, and sharing music with the world. I can only envy them! Listen in on my show at 2p.m. as well, I'll be playing a great live duet between Ravi Shankar and Ali Akbar Khan with Zakir Hussein and Alla Rakha on tablas. :)

Hey Ryan - just read that two of the guys from Metz hail from Ottawa - they're getting great love down south - love to hear anything from them - you have a great holiday, been listening to you since the '90s(?), can it be that long? ...
