- BRIAN DOWNEY -
Brian Downey doesn't just "bang" the drums, "making love" would be more like it ... he drills holes in his cymbals, thus they ring but the exact time he wants them to, and playing anybody else's kit he starts by tuning the skins - he's got about three different kits whose formation he changes constantly, according to the material he plays. He practices every day. The finesse, knowledge of styles and musicality of this drummer is exclusive in Canada, and he knows songs for days! An old school entertainer, his stage presence emanates the charms and sophisticated silliness of the all time greats of showbiz: Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, the list goes on. Brian Downey was a well liked drummer to non other but Chuck Berry, Chet Baker, Herb Ellis, and many more.
