Kenji Omae - tenor saxophone Dave Smith - trumpet Peter Hum - piano Alec Walkington - bass Mike Essoudry - drums The powerful and lyrical Ottawa-raised, Korea-based saxophonist Kenji Omae will be back in his hometown for the holidays, and will reunite at Café Paradiso with his former roommate and musical collaborator in New York, trumpeter Dave Smith, who is making a special trip up to Ottawa for the occasion. Accompanying the hornplayers will be pianist Peter Hum, bassist Alec Walkington and drummer Mike Essoudry. The quintet plans to uplift spirits with a mix of smartly chosen jazz standards and material drawn from the new and acclaimed discs by Smith (Anticipation, Brooklyn Jazz Underground Records) and Hum (A Boy's Journey, indie), which both feature Omae. Those who were unable to attend Hum's CD much-anticipated and sold-out CD launch in late November at Café Paradiso will want to catch this gig if they're able.
