Cat Rescue fundraiser dance

Party for the Cats!

I’m organizing a fundraiser dance party for CAT-A-MATCH Rescue, a non-profit shelter for abandoned, homeless and injured cats (www.catamatch.petfinder.com). This event is being held on Saturday, March 27th, 2010 at the Eri Café, 953 Somerset Street West, just west of Preston Street (http://www.ericafe.ca). The fun will begin at 8:00 p.m. If I had a large enough place, I’d invite you all to my house. However, by holding it at the Eri Café, I can invite all of my friends, and you can also bring your friends. AND, there will be loads of room to dance to alternative and indie tunes from the 1980s to current stuff.

Suggested ticket prices are $10 or $5 if you’re unemployed or under-employed. There will also be some great door prizes, such as a $50 gift certificate to ZenKitchen (www.zenkitchen.ca/). If you are unable to come to the party but want to buy a ticket, your name will be put in the draw for a great door prize. There will be a cash bar and if you’re hungry, the Eri Café has an awesome menu at very reasonable prices.

About CAT-A-MATCH Rescue:
Since 1997, CAT-A-MATCH Rescue has been rescuing cats in the rural community of St. Eugene, Ontario, located an hour east of Ottawa. This is one of the few shelters in this region. To date this organization has saved the lives of close to one thousand cats - the majority having been adopted into loving homes in Ottawa and Montreal. In addition to rescuing, the owner has run a low-cost Spay/Neuter Program since 1998.

I have seen first-hand the crucial work performed by this rescue organization, which operates with very little financial support. In the summer of 2007, I adopted two cats, Mimi and Chase, from CAT-A-MATCH RESCUE (Mimi is the poster girl for this event). Both mimi and Chase were struggling to survive on the street before they were given a second chance by this shelter, where they were given veterinary care and placed in a foster home until their adoption.

Tickets available at the door.
