DAVID JAMES ALLEN
With his latest single “Platform No. 12 (Old Friends),” Canadian singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist David James Allen continues to show why he is on the cutting edge of Americana. “Platform No. 12 (Old Friends)” is an instant cosmic country classic and a stunning preview of his next album Jubilation Potpourri, scheduled for release in 2026. It follows Allen’s previous album By The Summertime, which Quality Americana described as, “a throwback to sounds of the 1970s… the instrumentation is carefully planned, yet feels spontaneous.”
David James Allen has been releasing music for more than a decade, but over the past several years—after moving east of Toronto to the wilds of Prince Edward County—he has been startlingly prolific. Beginning with 2017’s When The Demons Come and carrying on through 2020’s Radiations and the following year’s The Architect, Allen has been steadily amassing a remarkable body of work that stands alongside those of any of his Canadian contemporaries.
ANNIE MARTEL
Annie Martel is a Canadian singer-songwriter and one of Ottawa's jewels. Martel's sincere, contemplative songs are anointed by her unequivocal voice and thoughtful musical style. Martel has a special way of engaging with complex human themes through her music, finding healing and release through the magic of songwriting, offering listeners the same opportunity.
THE FAMILY NAME
Jacob and Ben Matte are brothers and neighbours in Rideau Lakes, Ontario. They were living very different lives - Jacob settled into the quiet hamlet of Newbliss, Ontario, while Ben had followed his job out to the big city - when tough times suddenly hit. Their world shrank, Ben followed Jacob back home, and they found themselves spending all their free time together putting music to the poetry of a close friend. They are now backyard neighbours, able to get together for practice at the drop of a hat through a secret trail in the woods.
With harmonies as tight as their sibling bond, The Family Name blends the sounds they grew up with into a fresh mix of modern folk, bluegrass, and country. Their music carries a playful push-and-pull—Ben leans into newgrass and old-timey roots, while Jacob brings a flair for indie-folk and classic country. The result? A dynamic sound layered with heartfelt lyrics, hope, and hard-earned wisdom, all delivered with brotherly charm and just the right amount of tension.
