The Bushpilots & Ken Dirschl
8:00 PM on Saturday Sep. 7th
Irene's Pub, 885 Bank Street
Price: $15

Ottawa roots/rock icons The Bushpilots return for their first show at Irene's Pub in over five years, along with special guest singer/songwriter Ken Dirschl.

The Bushpilots are a cornerstone of the Ottawa roots rock scene with four appearances at RBC Ottawa Bluesfest under their belt, along with countless rollicking club and theatre appearances. Occupying a music space somewhere between Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, The Rolling Stones, Neil Young and Crazy Horse with a dash of Wilco and The Band thrown in for good measure.

The group released their sixth album, 'Kings of Mustang', at The Rainbow last fall, which was the #2 album of 2023 on Ottawa's CKCU-FM album charts.

Ken Dirschl has been writing, recording and performing his own music since the early 90’s, first with the muscular Gasoline and its “earth-flavoured rock’n’roll” and later under his own name. He has released three albums: an eponymous debut from Gasoline, the much-loved ‘Plan For Conquest‘, and now ‘The Road To Panama‘.

His vocal nuance and adept musical arrangements make for a compelling listen, both live and on the recordings. Ken Dirschl’s music mines familiar ground, and yet manages to find new and surprising layers, and his seasoned lyrics add an unexpected weight to the mix. His music has been featured on Biography channel, Animal Planet, Fashion Television and CMT.

Ken recently relocated back to his hometown of Ottawa after decades in Toronto. Ken and The BP's Rob Bennett played together in the Ottawa garage band Shakedown.

Music kicks off at 830 ... come early for a great seat and the even better Irene's food!
