About the project:
Womxn Up is the debut creative project released from the Freedx Collective, a social enterprise created to show appreciation and acknowledgment of the community of women creatives in Ottawa. Several women-led organizations including Girls Rock Ottawa, BabyPink Collective, Creatorland and Full Femme have partnered with Freedx's founder and rap artist Liz Clarke a.k.a HTEBASIŁÉ (pronounced hitabaseelay) to produce and release her debut single and music video. As a woman rapper entering music, HTEBASIŁÉ has recognized how male-dominated the creative industry is and how many barriers underrepresented women face. For this project, Liz collaborated with more than 10+ women to record and engineer the song, shoot and edit the music video, coordinate the event and contribute to the social enterprise. This team of women will be hosting a fundraising event to reinvest back into the community of women creatives powering this city and to further develop the social enterprise.
