Are you passionate about music? Do you want to learn more about the tech that drives live music? We have the perfect workshop for you!

9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Girls+ Rock Ottawa is teaming up with the City of Ottawa’s Community Arts + Social Engagement to present Soundtech 101, a workshop designed for musicians and techies who want to learn about the sound engineering that happens behind the scenes at live music shows. This workshop will give you the knowledge and tools to mix live music as a sound technician and to master the soundcheck as a musician.

Formerly known as DIY Audiotech for Women+, we’re excited to offer this revamped course regularly as part of our mission and mandate to increase representation in music - both on and off the stage. Participants will learn the tech side of music in a safe, supportive environment with an experienced sound technician. Women currently make up 5% of all audio engineers: we can change that.

The Soundtech 101 Workshop will provide you with an overview of:
- Gear and equipment that make up live shows
- How to set-up your own PA system
- Reading stage plots & evaluating tech demands
- Running a sound check
- How to achieve balanced sound for a live show
- Troubleshooting common problems

Receive a Soundtech Toolkit that includes:
- Handouts, including a soundcheck cheat sheet
- Recommended resources

Routhier Community Centre is fully accessible.
