Pretty Bad Records Presents: 1st Annual Pretty Bad Weekend

Pretty Bad Records is an Ottawa, Ontario based label started in 2010 by Tim Matthew and Matthew Saint Clare (of the now defunct band The Shakey Aches) and local musician and radio personality Dick Altavista. Some of it's a little country, some of it's a little punk rock, some of it's a little bluesy, but it's all rock n' roll!

Chautauqua

Featuring members of past Pretty Bad Records bands The Shakey Aches and The Johnnies, Chautauqua are scrappy instrumentalists generating sonically mindbending modness while channeling dusty explorations of experimental ambience and white noise. They are gearing up to record their debut with Juno nominee Topon Das at his apt2 recording studio in the fall.

Expanda Fuzz
https://www.facebook.com/expandafuzz/

Expanda Fuzz was conceived attempting to rip apart a Pink Floyd song with a distorted bass and a fuzz-driven guitar through a ripped speaker cabinet...while playing to a Roland 404 sampler. Think Kim Deal fronting the Velvet Underground, or Mary Timony jamming with Suicide. They're not a Pretty Bad Records artist yet... but we'll keep working on that.

Saint Clare
https://www.facebook.com/saintclareband/

Saint Clare is an Ottawa, Ontario rock n' roll band playing a mix of songs that are too poppy to be considered garage rock, but too fuzzy to be considered just pop. They have been compared to Pixies, Husker Du, and The Cure and draw on a wide range of genres from pop, to rock, to indie, to garage, and psychedelic.
