Ottawa is coming into its own as the home of exceptional music talent, building on a reputation of quality acts, community support and the DIY ethos. For Ottawa to continue this momentum there needs to be more opportunity for performers to work on their craft in front of an audience. To build on what already exists, Ottawa needs a place like The Bluebird (Nashville) or Threadgill’s (Austin) to help cultivate Ottawa as Canada’s Music City.
Meow! That’s Hot is up for the challenge! With help from our friend Slo' Tom and our pals at Spaceman Music, we are organizing a series of Tuesday evenings specifically for local creative types and their audience. It’s an ideal opportunity for local performers to try out new material, improve their presentation, and get feedback from other musicians and artists. It’s a perfect chance for local arts lovers to check out new material by their favourite Ottawa performers and discover new talent.
How does it work?
Meow! That’s Hot invite anyone who enjoys original music, comedy, poetry etc. to drop by. Performers can sign up starting at 7:30 and performances run from 8:00 until 10:00. There is a maximum of 3 songs (or 10 minutes) per artist and at least two of the songs must be originals. Performers can bring their own instrument or use the house guitar. There is no cover charge and all ages are welcome.
