Carleton Hosts Talk on the Greek Crisis
Event:
Ian Lee, MBA director with Carleton’s Sprott School of Business, will present a talk entitled Is the Greek Crisis a Threat to European Stability? Professor Lee will examine Greece’s original bargain to enter the Eurozone, the current state of its economy and leading proposals to address the crisis and its impact on Europe. The event is sponsored by the Centre for European Studies, the Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (EURUS) and the European Commission.

Background:
Carleton’s Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (EURUS) is a leading teaching and research program in its field and the first one established in Canada. The Institute hosts unparalleled opportunities for scholarly research and interaction with government, non-governmental agencies and international partners. The Institute also houses a European Union Centre of Excellence and a major network in European studies.
Last fall, the Centre for European Studies (CES) at Carleton University was granted $500,000 for the next three years by the European Commission to continue its cutting-edge work. In 2006, CES was charged with creating a network to co-ordinate all of the Canadian centres of excellence in this field. The designation was renewed last year, securing Carleton’s leadership in this field.
