This show is a collection of works by Inuit artists and includes prints, drawing, sculptures, fine metalwork and more. The exhibition looks at contemporary native artwork and how new themes work with traditional styles of art and how tradition and legend are represented in a
contemporary way. Some of the works in this exhibition are for sale.
The exhibition showcases over 20 artists from different regions of Nunavut, from Iqaluit to Dorset. The Ottawa School of Art is especially pleased to feature sculptures by David Rubin. The exhibition also highlight Art from graduate students of Nunavut Arctic College as well as print from Embassy of Imagination, a great organization bringing art opportunities to Inuit youth.
Sunday February 21st from 1 to 3 there will be a family oriented reception with throat singing, Inuit drumming and northern themed crafts. Sculptor David Rubin will be in attendance (as well as some of the youth from Embassy of Imagination). This fun event will be taking place in the upper lobby of the Shenkman Art centre by the gallery entrance.
Admission is free and all are Welcome.
