The Guest List
Thursday May 26th, 2022 with Joe Reilly
An interview with Ólafur Arnalds and lots of his beautiful music.

Today it is my absolute pleasure to welcome Ólafur Arnalds to The Guest List. The Icelandic composer/musician joined us while taking a break from a rehearsal with his group in Reykjavík. We talked about how he started out as a drummer in a hardcore band and eventually started making instrumental music (for a metal-progressive group) which led to a contract to create instrumental music albums... and now here he is as one of the most celebrated purveyors of music that defies easy classification but includes elements of classical, chamber, post-classical, electronic and ambient music. We also talk about what to expect from his group's concert in Ottawa on Monday, 30 at the Algonquin Commons Theatre. Take care and thanks for listening.
