Interviews with Matt Warry Smith of Union Duke and Daniel Glick who books Heavy Montreal

Union Duke is a fun bluegrass/folk/rock outfit from Toronto. The band waves the banjo flag proudly and creates great, catchy bluegrass oriented songs that will have the place rockin' at the Black Sheep Inn tomorrow night (Friday, July 31.) We talk to Matt of the group about what to expect and how to find a shirt for a dime. Montreal hosts Osheaga this weekend (sorry.. sold out!) but next weeked on the same island site Heavy Montreal takes over with a distinctly heavy rock focus. We talk to Daniel Glick who is one of the directors of booking for Heavy Montreal. We talk about the challenges of booking a festival with this focus (Daniel doesn't think it's that challenging due to the breadth of the music) and how the festival has grown and expanded over the years. This year it feature four stages of heavy mayhem over 3 days. He mentions that Iggy Pop is one of the festival's big "gets" this year.
