The Sadies play on Friday, May 8 at the Bronson Centre in a killer gig that features Kalle Mattson and the Wooden Sky. We talk to Sean Dean who plays bass with the Sadies about making music with the Good Brothers for more than 20 years and the wonderful chaos that is the Sadies. http://thesadies.net/ Her Harbour is essentially Gabrielle Gigueres from Ottawa. She creates beautiful, other-worldly music that features textured atmospheric sounds. If you like the music of Bjork, Kate Bush, Daughter and Sigur Ros (when the group is being quieter!) then you'll find lots to love in the music of Her Harbour and the album Winter's Ghosts. Gabrielle talks to us about the way she makes these textured songs and how the house she recorded in influenced the sound of the recording. Check her out at Mugshots tonight (Thursday, May 7.) http://herharbour.com/ https://herharbour.bandcamp.com/ Yardlets is a brand new project for Sam Goldberg who has made music with groups like Broken Social Scene, Hawaii and Kandle and his old skate buddy Jeff Edwards (from Shot By Hunting...I was mistaken when I asked Sam about working with Jeff as I thought Jeff hadn't created music before... ooops!)It's a suped-up primal rock sound that fans of the Jesus and Mary Chain and Sonic Youth will definitely dig.
