The incoming government in Brazil poses an immediate danger to the Brazilian people, be it in terms of human rights abuses or diminished economic, social, cultural and environmental survivability. The regime has indicated that it will roll back programs benefiting tens of millions of Brazilians.
These measures combined with its unabashed use of police brutality and extrajudicial killings are in contravention of the Charter of the United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. They will also have degrading impacts on the South American economy generally as well as strong ripple effects on the politics and economies of the Western Hemisphere and beyond.
Ottawa-Gatineau Solidarity with Democracy in Brazil (OGSDB) will be holding a demonstration at 4:30 pm on Monday, January 7th 2019 at the Brazilian Embassy at 450 Wilbrod Street in Ottawa.
For any inquiries about this event, please contact OGSDB’s spokesperson, César Ndéma-Moussa, at 613 255-5733, or by email at ogsdb.sogdb@gmail.com.
