On today's show we remembered the anniversary of Pablo Neruda's death; one of the world's greatest Latinoamerican poets, winner of a Nobel Prize in Literature. Neruda died in Chile, 12 days after a coup d'etat and death of his friend, president Salvador Allende.
We also paid homage to Bob Carty, a canadian journalist an activist of freedom of expression issues as a member of Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE) and as a founder of the International Freedom of Expression eXchange (IFEX).
Bob was a friend of us at Punto de Encuentro and he was a guest at the show several times; we had him in the studio to partake in his delightful interpretations of Latin music, of which he was extremely fond. Unfortunately, Bob passed away this past Sunday in Ottawa.
