A special program to celebrate the start of CKCU's 50th year of broadcasting
A special program to celebrate the start of CKCU's 50th year of broadcasting.
This show celebrates CKCU's entry into Year 50 of broadcasting on 93.1 FM. After a countdown to midnight, you'll hear the first song ever broadcast on CKCU -- 'You Turn Me On, I'm A Radio' by Joni Mitchell – played from vinyl, of course. After some cheering and reminiscing from various people with connections to the station, an Ottawa band called Central Station delivers the first live performance of CKCU's 50th year. Other guests on the show include Terry Martin, Al Thaw, Nathanael Newton, Edith, Max Wallace, Greg Torrington, Mike Mercer and Dave Aardvark. We hear greetings and reminiscences from Steve Colwill, Lisa Corkery, James Hale, Theresa Kavanagh, Jim Wright, Andrew Spencer and Anne-Marie Brugger. The show is hosted by former station manager Patrick Nagle, 'Tinig Pinoy' host Regina Sosing, and Ottawa Folk Festival co-founder and 'Canadian Spaces' host Chris White. Thanks to Andrew Spencer and Erik Stolpmann for helping with this broadcast. |
