Lots of feel-good indie pop and rock for you all today as we celebrate the beginning of summer and the return of the warmer weather! Also, a huge thank you to those of you who turned up to our fundraiser event this past weekend - it was great to meet some of you and have you show support for our station ♡ Our throwback spotlight artist for this week is The Feminine Complex, an all-female garage rock band from Nashville that were popular in the late 60s. Their story reminds me a lot of another band I played on here called Female Species as they gained a bit of a cult following after their only album was reissued a few years ago. What a delight to meet you in person, Audrey ! Volunteer / hostess extraordinaire handling t-shirt sales, raffle tickets, schmoozing duty, introductions, directions and classy representation of CKCU !! It was a wonderful gathering regardless of the weather which prevented everyone from enjoying the patio, except for Jeff and me with Drake, The Dancing Labrador holding court and checking out all the scents from Hintonburg / Doggyville brethren !Thanks to all the hosts / curators / staff who were there to greet folks like Drake 'n Dad. What a great little shindig !!!

aw thank you Neil, it was great meeting you too! glad that my former retail skills were put to good use haha. I had no idea Drake was with you that day or else I would've met him and said thank you for the luck he gave me during the raffle draw. I stayed put at my station the whole time because I didn't want to lose any potential sales (Jeff kept telling me to take a break and mingle but I didn't budge lol). I should've listened to him or else I wouldn't have missed meeting Drake! Thanks again for coming out and showing your continuous support :)

I must have a Feminine Complex because I love their sound. Thx for the intro to another fab band for me to explore further. And now, back outside to the old school radio blaster unit and my 18 hummingbird feeders I am currently filling for the garden under the supervision of Drake, The Garden Gnome.
