Show #15: Underrated oldies from the vault + Female Species
I'll let you all in on a little secret... if you couldn't tell, my last few shows were pre-recorded due to my packed school schedule this semester. But now, classes are finished and I will be continuing to do the rest of my shows LIVE IN THE STUDIO throughout the summer! I honestly missed doing my shows live and find that it's more fun that way.
Today we're going to listen to some incredibly underrated oldies that I can't believe haven't been played more on the radio - get ready for lots of psychedelic, soft rock ballads, sunshine pop and more. We'll also look at some Canadian artists within these genres featured in the Museum of Canadian Music's archives.
The spotlight artist for this week is Female Species, a girl group from Whittier, California who produced lots of catchy garage rock, mellow folk-pop, and surf rock during the late 60s. However, their debut album "Tale Of My Lost Love" was only released online just a few years ago by an indie record label, and have gained a whole fanbase almost half a century later. Be sure to listen to find out more about them!

Disappointed I could not get to Sunday's event that I was looking forward to attending to meet the many CKCU hosts I communicate with regularly online. A missed opportunity to thank them for their commitment face to face. Glad to hear it went well !!! Keep up the great work you do on your show, Audrey!
