Ovalizing Power: Lani Guinier on who makes the rules.

Lani Guinier (1950-2022) was one of the most prolific and sought-after legal scholars in the United States, and became the first black woman tenured law professor at Harvard University. She published 5 books between 1994 and 2015, focused largely on democratization and social justice. In this acclaimed keynote address given at the US National Women's Studies Association conference in the year 2000, she compares gendered behaviours from her child's birthday party and her lawschool classes, and concludes the alternative to zero-sum power should be "ovalizing the hierarchy."
