This episode is guest produced by Vancouver-based sound artist, activist, and educator Helena Krobath. Helena begins the episode with a brief introduction before describing and playing a recent soundscape composition titled “Sea Readings or a Watery Grave”. The piece consists of field recordings captured in Vancouver and uses them to comment on the inevitable rise in sea level on account of climate change.
This is also the first of three specially curated episodes produced in association with the Urban Imaginaries project, a collaboration between Carleton University’s Industrial Design Program and Communication and Media Studies Program. The project will run through the spring and will consist of a series of in-person events held in association with Ottawa coffee house Arlington 5.
