We are losing so many wonderful female legends of music pf late. RIP also for the amazing talent of Roberta Flack. RIP to the eclectic and dynamic, Gwen McCrae. All of these incredible women have left an indelible mark on musical heritage.

At the end of this show I mention that next week's show would be a tribute to Fats Domino on Mardi Gras Day. I will also begin the show with some recordings to remember Roberta Flack.

How can I not chime in on a Mike Regenstref show! I discovered Nina Simone when my brother took menout dinner for my birthday at cajun restaurant La Lousianne In NDG in Montréal. Sinnerman was playing in the background while we were eating. As a musicien and music lover I totally freaked out!!! Couldnt eat or talk until I figured out who/what it was. But it was some.kind of muzak feed thing so my brother said how could you find out... they had switched our plates by mistake and the spicy one went to my brother and he got major heartburn when we went to see Éric Rohmer's Ma Nuit Chez Maude at my (world reknowned) film teacher Marc Gervais screening at Concordia university. Needless to.say, for anyone who has seen that film, it was not à good stomach memory for my brother. But I on the other hand discovered Nina Simone, in one of the most intense songs I have ever heard. Cheers!

Hi Mike, I think the world of Fats Domino. I named my Gibson "Gin Rummy" after the first place in New Orleans that Fats played. I would have been thrilled to see Fats play with Oscar. Wouldn't that have been awesome. When I ws in New Orleans I got driven to his wife's home. It was pink. Fats lived in a home right behind her after they split. But Fats went over very night to make her dinner. What a guy! Thanks again for all the great music Mike. It keeps me going. as always Missy

I have been aware of Nina Simone lo these many decades, and have always admired her talent, her activism, etc. My all time favourite is "Mississippi Goddamn", but there are many more songs of import. Looking forward to the Roberta Flack tribute. Another icon passed.
