I am going to love this show. One of my favourite years for music. I only looked at the first 32 selections on the playlist and I am so excited that I am not going to look at the rest of the playlist. That is how much I am looking forward to this show, Mike.

It's interesting to hear It's Not Unusual in much finer, digitised, form than when it was on the (AM!) radio. Never sounded this good, technically speaking!

And hello!

Hi Benoît. Yes, I agree about Tom Jones. There's some nice folk/roots material on that 1965 album (his debut) and a lot more on some of his recent recordings. I wasn't a big fan as a kid (I was 11 in 1965) but I've developed an appreciation in recent years.

I was 17 at the time. Perfect timing for the Sixties music, the Seventies, etc.

Indeed.

Tuning Out Now
It is "Unusual" to hear Tom Jones (and many others here) on a (non commercial) community radio station

What a great look at music from 60 years ago. Rock, folk, blues, pop and jazz! Now that's unusual fare for any radio show. Thanks.

Eve Of Destruction, wow, I don't think I've heard that in 40 or 50 years. Some great musical memories in the padt hour from when I was a kid. Stranger Songs is my favorite radio show. Thanks for such unique programs every week.

Mike, this music still resonates deeply. These are some real classics and beautiful voices of great storytellers. Today, I'm remembering my mother- having lost her 4 years ago- all dressed up, ready to meet her friends, so thrilled to hear Tom Jones perform live in Jacksonville, Florida.

Thanks Holly.

1965 was a very good year for music. Just entering my teenage years, but hearing so much on the radio. I wholeheartedly agree about "In My Life" - I've always found that to be a turning point in The Beatles' musical output - what was to follow was truly transformative.

Indeed, Joanne.
