On part 2 of Mapped Out Radio, Nick has a deep dive interview / conversation with Artist / Musician, Tariq Amery .
Tariq Amery, originally from London, Ontario, is presently based in Montreal. He is a graduate from the Bachelor of Music program at Carleton University, Ottawa and has been playing flute since he was six and saxophone since he was fourteen. He has studied performance and composition extensively with private teachers specializing in styles ranging from the Suzuki flute method, to twelve tone composition. He has also studied with internationally renowned guitarist and composer Roddy Elias, Robert Cram of the National Arts Centre orchestra, Juno award winner Jesse Stewart, Humber Colleges’ Jeff King and Ottawa local sax guru Mike Tremblay. He has also received instruction through music workshops from masters such as Toronto Philharmonic’s Christopher Lee, Jane Bunnett, Jazz legend Dave Liebman and Flute-boxer Greg Patillo. He has performed in Ottawa's Jazzfest, Festival Franco-Ontarien and London, Ontario's internationally renown Sunfest. In 2019/20, he spent some months travelling internationally which included connecting with musicians and performing in Beirut, Lebanon during the city-wide civil protests (known locally as the October Revolution).
