Good evening everyone Welcome to tonight's show, featuring a selection of artists who've played at the 100 Club in London at various times in the past. (The first track features a Canadian big band that didn't play at the club, as explained in the programme.)

Hi Chris, I wonder if my Dad ever went there. He would tell me about all the jazz concerts he and his friends went to—on both sides of the Pond.

Hi Shelley, quite possibly. It wasn't originally called the 100 Club, and was known as a jazz club those status soon grew attracting some of the biggest names in that genre.

Basements make great clubs! "The Cellar" was famous jazz club in TO. Wish I'd been to the 100 in London!

Hi hb, :_) ah, the Rainbow Bistro, used to be a sponsor here (John's show "Black and Blues," I think, which was known then as "Meantown Blues" until its name change around that time).

We saw some great Canadian bands at places like Barrymore’s and Grand Central, just to name a couple—back in the day. House of Targ has great music and perogies.

Barrymore's also hosted visitors like Koko Taylor and Rory Gallagher.
