Good evening everyone The age-old interviewer's question "which came first: the music or the lyrics" probably won't be needed this evening. ;-)

Hi Chris, Arrivals and Departures—always makes for an interesting show. Do you think if they played Loneward’s music in airports, it would help people to stay calm? Maybe Brian Eno was on to something “Music For Airports” which I heard on CKCU FM. I know I would chill out if I heard this kind of music in public spaces.

Hi Shelley Yes, probably. In fact the Eno album that you mention was at least partly prompted by experiencing a long wait for a delayed plane. Apparently he's something of a nervous flyer and so the piece was a reflection of his wish for creating an aural environment that promoted a sense of calmness for passengers in the departures lounge.

The music this evening is exceptionally beautiful, peaceful and meditative. Clarice is all stretched out, enjoying the tranquil tunes—music for calming cats. I certainly WOULD like to hear this in more public places. Did you ever hear about where music (such as classical) is used to deter loitering in some spaces.

Hi. S.A.M. I heard cows give more milk with classical music.... I'd like Blues if I was a cow!;-)

Hi Shelley, yes, and other types of music have also been played to deter certain groups/types of people from remaining in one place for longer than desired. I'm thinking particularly of an article I read a few years ago where a bar owner admitted playing uptempo pop music at volume to deter people over a certain age from wanting to stay very long in the bar, thus ensuring that the bar remained a haunt for younger clientele. There's also the stories of playing classical music (and others) to cows in milking sheds, .

I like all kinds of music, but I think if I were a cow, I could go for some nice Jazz. Gee, I never thought I would say THAT on a playlist! This show is a ‘must listen’ during those times at work when I have to focus. Mighty-night everyone. I know I’m going to sleep well.
