Hello everyone Welcome to this evening's edition of Bedtime Stories. This is the first edition of an occasional feature where we remember music we enjoyed hearing with someone special to us, but who can't be with us anymore. All the artists - with one exception - were played by my friend and CKCU colleague Janis Lockwood aty some time since 2010.

Hi Chris, What a great way to pay tribute to Janis Lockwood—a true mainstay at CKCU. From hosting a show to serving as Funding Drive Coordinator and more, Janis did so much for the Mighty 93–and beyond. Of note, Janis always made sure that our funding drive donations and their donors were listed in a format that could be read by screen-reading software. A true champion of accessibility! I will never forget that.

And someone else I know celebrated a birthday on December 4……

Hi Shelley, yes, Janis and I almost shared the same birthday, but not the same year. Thanks for mentioning that Janis made sure that information was accessible to all announcers at CKCU, and of its particular value to you and your broadcasting colleagues with no or low vision..

Love the stories from behind the scenes at CKCU—I would guess that there was some excellent content heard on Closed Circuit as fledgling hosts prepared to hit the airwaves beyond the campus.

Oh, you would have enjoyed them very much, especially the 3 hour slot before Canadian Spaces, that Janis hosted for a while in the 80s and masybe a bit beyond, I'm not sure. But you can hear all of Janis's shows over the past 13 years years or so by using the "On Demand" facility. The past programmes can be a little difficult to see, so I'll post some help here before the end of tonight's show.

(That message from me above was for hb to hear Janis's shows on Demand), I'll post some help on that shortly....

Oh!!! Very Important! I realized by the time I was hooked on 20 shows it was irrelevant to try & decide a false label, like: "Favourite!" You are an indepedent collective.....far as I know..

Yes I too liked O’Shea’s After Hours shows. Again, thanks to music curated by REAL VOLUNTEERS our musical tastes have expanded and diversified.

Thanks Chris for weaving great radio with memories of, and tribute to one of CKCU's giants. Janis embodied the spirit and power of the station at its finest. A lifeforce and a force of nature.
