Talakayang Bayan is a Filipino student-run radio show that focuses on issues of concern to the Filipino community. The show's first program, for example, dealt with the problems of Filipino live-in nannies. At least for the past two decades, issues such as low salaries, dismal working conditions and abuse of live-in domestic workers have been topics of many debates and conferences among government and community organizations. The radio program proposes a solution that is nothing short of scrapping the federal government's Live-in Caregiver Program and allowing foreign nannies to automatically land in Canada as permanent residents, a proposal the federal government has been loath to accept.
